Happy Friday!! {Weekly Wrap-up}

Yea, it is the weekend! I am baking, baking and did I mention BAKING 8 dozen cupcakes and 2 cakes for 4 parties! Woo-wee!!

Just a quick update I am down 34lbs and haven't felt this good in years!! I am drinking protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and having a healthy dinner. Drinking nothing but water and the occasional crystal light. I am not hungry the drinks really do fill you up. I have more energy than I can remember. NO allergy issues, no stomach issues (which I have dealt with both for so long I can't remember). My point to this is that the proof really is there. WHAT YOU PUT IN YOUR BODY affects everything! If you eliminate all the gunk (lots of preservatives, sugar, caffeine, etc..) You will rid your body of all the toxins that it didn't want in the first place. Then everything works better.

YOU can retrain your metabolism. I am living proof.
YOU MUST take responsibility for what you eat and what you feed your family.
It isn't as hard as you may think.
                                     You just have to be willing to make a better choice.
                                       YOU HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE!!!!!!!!

The Why and the How?

I am digging deep today as I don't feel like I have really shared much of myself lately. Not sure why. After reading a post at my friend Erin's The Mother Load today talking about rasing healthy children. I had to share. I have posted a bit about Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution and how I am pretty much obsessed about raising a healthy child and telling anyone who I can get to listen that they TOO need to be accountable for what their kids eat.

This is WHY I am taking such drastic measures to LOSE WEIGHT. How can I talk the talk without walking the walk? Everyone (fam & friends) ask HOW are you doing it?  HOW could I not?

Fat- such an ugly word that can be defined so many ways. For me I am not looking to be a size 2, I never have been and highly doubt I ever will be. I just want to be healthy. I want to run and play with my son. I want to FEEL GOOD!!

The first 6 weeks went really well I lost 27lbs and I am thrilled. I am now into a modified program where I am still drinking shakes for breakfast and lunch but, now can have a sensible meal ( I sound like the Slim Fast commercial). I can not tell you what will work for you however, for me the act of taking it ALL away caffeine, sweets, salts EVERYTHING. It was a way to break all the bad habits. I fix water 1st thing in the AM opposed to a sugary coffee or a soda. It has really helped me see all the mindless eating that I was doing. The first week was a major wakeup call.

As I said in my very first post here this is the last diet I will EVER do.  I am changing my lifestyle. Instead of being a casserole queen I am becoming an expert on adding flavor over fat and creating meals for my family that are healthy and full of fresh ingredients and taste good!!

Update

Good Day! It has been a wild week! After having all last week off for Spring Break I have had a hard time getting back in the groove. I am excited to report I am down 23 lbs in 5 weeks and have been doing the 30 day shred as well as playing tennis! Yea Me! I also won a BLOG MAKEOVER this past week and can't wait to see what INDIE CHICK DESIGNS has in store for us!! How cute is the button?

I am have added 1 meal on the weekend as I was really starting to feel that my social life was being hampered! I had 1/2 a turkey burger (Bubba's brand only 160 cal and 5 g of fat in a whole burger!) and a great salad my girlfriend Les made with fresh blueberries & light Champagne Vinegrette. yum.

We got our garden planted and I am so looking forward to all the great veggies!!!

Hope everyone has a great week!!

30 DAY SHRED

As well as weigh-in day went, Doc is really wanting me to get in more, well.. any (prefer 20 mins at least 3 x a week) cardio. I am not big on it the tennis was the most I had moved in 2 yrs. Anyhoo, I have heard alot recently about Jillian Michael's 30 DAY SHRED.  It is a 20 min workout that has 3 levels and is supposed to show BIG results. It says on the cover "LOSE UP TO 20 POUNDS IN 30 DAYS" . That sounds great to me. We shall see. I am going to give it a try and will let you know. Be back in 20!
It is good, basic moves nothing too complicated. I thought I may possibly die in the first round of cardio! Best part is that it goes by SUPER fast! Workout 1 is the easist which I started with and it has 3 segments that mix cardio, strength & abs.
I am going to do it everyday for the next 30 days and see what happens. If I can do it. Anyone can. I haven't done a thing that would classify as exercise since before mini. Good grief, talk about out of shape!!

Happy Easter!! {weekend wrap-up}

Hope everyone had a wonderful day! It has been so beautiful today about 80 degrees and sunshine! Hubs went fishing and got home late last night. He caught an 18.5 in Mountain Trout! Aparently, this is a BIG FISH! Yea for him.
I had a bunch of really BIG ACCOMPLISHMENTS this weekend!!
Jack had 4 friends over on Friday to dye Easter Eggs and play outside. I fixed lunch for them all and drank my shake with a smile on my face!
Yesterday, we went to an Egg Hunt and I took Mom & Jack out to lunch (my first time out to eat without eating!) Again, I drank my shake and we went on with our fun day!
Today, we went to church and then over to Dad's for Easter Lunch. There were 22 people there! I had planned all week to partake in the lunch. Talked to my doc and decided that if I gave myself 1 free meal it would make the week go by so much better. It worked! I did great! I had 2 bites of ham, 3 bites of brocolli salad (which was the best thing there, I made it!) a bite each of potato salad, deviled egg and carrot cake.  That was it. I was satisified. I was full. I remained in CONTROL!! I am soooooo proud! Surly, this was less than 310 calories which is what I eliminated by not drinking my shake for lunch or my protein bar. You think?
I played tennis twice this week and ran around the backyard like a crazy person 2 days in a row!
And... drumroll please! I wore a skirt to church this morning that didn't fit last summer! I have gone down a WHOLE SIZE!!
It is great to know that what I am doing is working!! I feel good and I am looking better. Healthier.
Till tomorrow... Weigh-in and the start of week 5.

Tired Long Week!

Wow! This has been the longest week! I have been SUPER BUSY! I have been getting in all my shakes & the bars and the scales have already DROPPED!!! It is TRUE! I mean I know it is but for some reason in my mind I think that the less I put in the quicker I will lose. NOT TRUE!  I vowed to make sure to FOLLOW THE RULES just as I did the 1st week (I lost 8 lbs that week!) and it is working!!
Had my 1st Tennis lesson last night and it was so much fun! I think this will be my sport! Ha! other then volley ball in middle school I haven't really ever played a sport! Tried softball in 4th grade- not for me. I am going to stick to swimming and tennis. Maybe by next year I can go out and play in public and not be embarassed!

Wish me luck!!
